Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM (updated timing)

Electric customers of Lakefront Utilities Inc. (LUI) in Colborne will be without power on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. This scheduled outage is necessary for Hydro One to complete critical upgrades to the local distribution system.

Hydro One’s high voltage transmission lines connect LUI’s distribution system to electricity generating stations across the province. Hydro One is the sole electricity supplier to Lakefront Utilities Inc., with the supply for distribution in Colborne coming out of Hydro One’s transmission station in Port Hope. Hydro One requires the outage on Sunday, October 22, to install a smart switch on the Port Hope M16 feeder that supplies electricity to all of Colborne.

“Lakefront Utilities understands the inconvenience of power interruptions, especially lengthy events like the one scheduled for Sunday, October 22, in Colborne,” said Dereck Paul, President & CEO Of Lakefront Utilities Inc. “However, this necessary distribution automation upgrade allows Hydro One to improve the reliability of Colborne’s distribution system and to reduce restoration time in the event of an outage.”
